A girl’s story.
Part 1
Her first love was meant to be her father, but he kicked off the chain of abuse.
Emotional, physical but never sexual.
Her mothers loyalty was to her husband, a perfect wife. She always had scars, every mistake was met, with a scar. She became scared of the man that bore her, she tried to be perfect never to make a mistake. She had no friends, no sense of family and no self esteem.
The blame started.
She blamed herself for not being good enough, for not being beautiful enough, not being intelligent enough or anything enough.
She just wanted to safely go through each day without getting hit, she just wanted him to be her father and not the monster she saw.
He called it tough love.
She developed a thick skin to the physical pain.
Words, but the words ripped her apart everyday, she had no idea, what it meant to be a child.
This was the foundation that would speed through the first quarter of her life.
She was poison ivy

A girl’s story

Part 2

She called him Uncle.
He was like an elder brother, or so she thought. He called her pretty, the first person to say that to her, and for the first time she felt that way. The first person she could really talk to.
She told him she wanted to be a Doctor, but she hated mathematics, He was good in maths, he would help her he said. She was excited, some was paying attention to her.
4 maths lectures later, uncle asks her if she had a boyfriend, she tells him No. He tells her not to, but begins to touch her inappropriately. Naive, at first she reads no meaning to it, but he continues and she becomes uneasy, she just wants to leave, she’s had enough maths lessons for a day.
That’s when he transformed into a monster, a real sized breathing monster, like her Dad but with different intentions.
She was trapped.
Her screams only defeaned her ears.
Her tears stung her eyes.
Who to blame?
Mathematics or Uncle?
Her innocence gone, Her pride ripped apart. She was empty but told no one.
Once again she was poison ivy.
Only this time, she wanted to die

A girl’s story

Part 3

Her next monster came In form of her salvation.
I love you he said to her. A girl had no need for love, it was alien to her. A girl had walls and walls and fences, a girl guarded her heart, she knew only pain.
I would heal you, he said.
Slowly but surely he tugged at a girls defences. A girl opened up to him, she believed he was her salvation, He was a sheep or so a girl thought. For the first time a girl was in love, the monster wouldn’t be asleep for too long, He woke.
First the slaps
The kicks
The violation yet again.
A girls scars came back, her tears flowed endlessly. When did love become hate, a girl asked?
A girl is broken yet a girl stayed making excuses for him. A girl tries once again to be perfect, but each try was met with a scar. It’s all my fault, she says.
A girls has had enough and walks away for good.
A girl is a survivor, but at what cost?
A girls only companion is tears and the silence of the night.
Once again, a girl is poison ivy.
Love to her is pain.
